There are two races in Portugal with a strong British contingent, the first is the 2010 Nelo Summer Challenge near Porto and the second is the Race of Champions in the Algarve.

The culmination of the Poole Bay local Surfski Time Trials is the Race the Light Series. The event gives any paddler the opportunity to record their best time over the 4 Friday evenings in September.

The route is the 8.4km route to Poole harbour mouth and back to Branksome Chine Beach. The paddles start at 18:30 sharp with T-shirt presentation to be held each Friday evening at the Porterhouse in Westbourne.  Event entry is £5 in order to recieev your T-shirt - you can enter as many of the series races as you like in order to post your best time.

The course record stands at 38:20 and is held by Peter Molner.

The current break points for the event are Sub 50, 45, 42, 40
